English Breakfast Simple Syrup

Ingredients:
2 teaspoons english breakfast tea
1 cup water
3/4 cup finely granulated sugar
Directions:
Bring a cup of water to boil (I used slightly more to account for what would boil off). Add the 2 teaspoons of english breakfast tea to the boiling water and leave to steep for about 5 minutes, longer if you are going foran especially strong tea flavor. After 5 minutes of steeping, strain the tea out of the water. Measure the water,mt 1 cup had boiled don to 3/4 cup, so I added 3/4 cup of sugar. The basic goal is to have the syrup to be 50:50 sugar and tea. Pour into a bottle for storage and allow to cool.
Comments
English Breakfast is a blend of different teas, usually Indian and Chinese black teas, and each tea company typically has its own blend. This means that the flavor of the syrup will vary a little based on your choice of tea. This syrup can be used in place of regular simple syrup in many recipes to add a nice touch of tea flavor.
